A Typical Tandem Jump
Tandem jumps are meant to offer an introduction to the sport. They allow the rookie to "take a ride" with an experienced jumper. A tandem jump requires from 15 to 45 minutes of ground preparation (it is not a First Jump Course). The jump consists of an experienced skydiver called a "Tandem Master" and the passenger. The passenger and tandem master each wear a harness, however only the Tandem Master wears the parachute.
The passenger's harness attaches to the front of the Tandem Master's harness and the two of them freefall together for almost 60 seconds, open together, and land together under one really BIG parachute. You have the option to pull your own ripcord and to fly the canopy yourself, however the Tandem Master will be in charge of the landing.

Pulling the Rip Cord
If you think you might want to pursue the sport of skydiving, you can make your first Tandem jump the first jump of the Tandem Progression program. See the article titled ‘Tandem Progression’ if you are interested in this route to certification.
Tandem Skydives are only $159.00 with a GT Student ID per person (call to check on current prices for non-GT students). Be sure to mention that you are a student with the GT Sport Parachute Club and don't forget to bring your student ID.

Please call at least one week ahead of time for reservations and if you are interested in setting up group trips, there is a sign up sheet that you can have the group fill out and fax in. This does require a credit card number for a deposit but there are no worries because if you can’t make it that weekend, the deposit will be applied to your jump whenever you can make it.
