Skydiving Info

So you’re looking to skydive! If you have jumped before or are already licensed, please see our article below, ‘GT Club Info’, for details about joining and jumping with the club. For anyone looking to make your first jump out of an airplane, this will tell you what you need to know. Check out the club if you are interested in skydiving because we now have 9 full rigs, altimeters, helmets, goggles, and everything else you might need. We get a student jump rate of $19.00 a jump and our dues are $50.00 a semester that includes gear rental.

There are several ways to make that first jump. If you are looking for a one time awesome experience then a Tandem skydive is the way to go for you. You are attached to an instructor and they do all the work. This is a great first skydive because you have all the fun and excitement with none of the responsibility. Please see the 'Doing a Tandem Jump!' article for more information.

If you are looking to get certified, then you have a couple options. The AFF (Advanced FreeFall) program is the most popular. This includes 6-8 hours of ground school where everything you need to know is covered and you practice all the maneuvers on the ground. You also complete 7 actual skydives on your own. Please read the ‘AFF Program’ article listed below to learn more about this program.

The next way to get certified for skydiving on your own is through Tandem Progression. This program starts with Tandem Jumps for your first three levels. If you are not sure if you want to get certified, you can always plan on doing Tandem Progression and after your first jump experience you will have one jump out of the way. Please read the ‘Tandem Progression’ article below to learn more about this path to certification.

Our club was started in 1969 and has been going strong ever since. There is a tremendous history with many top skydivers in the world being our alumni. Georgia Tech has had hundreds of medal finishes in competitions at the national and international level. If you are interested in skydiving in any way please read the article on ‘GT Club Info’ below.

Check out the ‘Drop Zone Info’ link in the left menu for information on setting up appointments to skydive, group sign ups, starting certification, and other information about our home drop zone, Skydive Atlanta.
