To run for office or to vote you must have paid your dues by this meeting Thursday March 16th.
Safety at the Dublin Boogie
The St. Patrick’s Day Boogie in Dublin, GA is this weekend and several of our members will be attending. We want to make sure that everyone remembers safety as a first priority so read through the following list of Boogie Tips and we will cover these at the meeting as well.
- You will be jumping out of different planes and maybe even helicopters and hot air balloons so make sure you understand how each jump is going to work before you get in the aircraft.
- There are different landing areas for swoopers and for students and low jump number people. Know what you're heading for.
- Watch out for traffic, it will be everywhere so be safe and aware. There will be lots of canopies in the air at once so be prepared and pay attention.
- Look at an aerial picture of landing zones and where you are designated to land before you jump.
- DO NOT CROSS THE RUNWAY UNDER 1000 FEET!!!
- Check your spot and leave enough room, people tend to get excited and rush out the door, you have the right to make sure you're safe.
- Get stable and check for the landing area, if you are far away and need to pull a little higher than planned (say 500 or 1000 feet higher), check your airspace, check above and around you then wave off big time and pull. Pulling high (say above 5000 feet) should be announced on the plane or in case of emergency.
- The Lower canopy has the right of way. So yield to them and don't take chances.
- Please avoid spiraling over the landing area and don't make too many S-turns on approach. People are following you and they will try to anticipate which way you are going.
- Always walk behind the plane and remember there will be more than one plane so stay alert!
