The elections meeting will be open to student club members only because it is a voting meeting. No guests, alumni, or non-voting members are allowed.
The following is a portion of the constitution pertaining to the rules and process of elections:
Article IV-Officers
Section I
The organization shall have the following officers:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Public Relations Officer
- Quartermaster
Section II
Duties of Officers
1 President – The President will preside at club and officer meetings and will need to be familiar with club governing documents and Roberts Rules of Order. The President will ensure that all eligibility requirements are met, coordinate club activities, provide resources for learning more about the sport, and look for ways to involve alumni. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
2 Vice President – the principal duties of the Vice President are assigned by the President. The Vice President assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence. The Vice President will be in charge of communications with potential new members, and coordinate information sessions for the student body. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
3 Secretary – the Secretary will record the minutes of all club and officer meetings, and then distribute the minutes to the club and/or officer members. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
4 Treasurer – the Treasurer will maintain the financial status of the club which includes but is not limited to collecting dues, working with the Sports Club Coordinator to insure invoices are paid on time, ensure timely payment of all accounts payable, and work with the President to turn in a budget to SGA. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
5 Public Relations Officer – The duties of this office will be to enhance the image of the Georgia Tech Sport Parachute Club which include but are not limited to the organization of information distribution at FASET orientation, and Technique and Blueprint publications. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
6 Quartermaster – The quartermaster is in charge of the maintenance of current club equipment including, but not limited to coordinating reserve repacks with a FAA Rigger, inventory of all gear, repairs on gear, and organization of gear locker. The quartermaster will work with the Treasurer in writing bills to procure new equipment and communicate with the club on gear status and checkout procedures. If membership in the club permits, the quartermaster should hold at least a USPA A-license. As an Executive Officer, regular attendance at club and exec meetings is required.
Section III
Officer shall be elected:
- Every Spring Semester, one month before the semester’s end, or as vacancies occur.
- The officers will serve for one year or until the following Spring Semester, which ever comes first.
- Student club members wishing to run for office may be self-nominated and need one second by another student club member.
- The member shall be elected by a majority of the members of a quorum. Absentee ballots may be emailed to the President if sent 24 hours prior to meeting, but will only be used if quorum is not present at the meeting.
- Newly elected officers will work with current officers until the end of the semester at which point they will have full authority of that position.
