2006 National Collegiate Competition E-mail
The 2006 Collegiate Competition was a huge success, but for reasons different than what you might expect.  This past year, Georgia Tech's Sport Parachute Club was in a rebuilding year with students going to collegiates to learn more about the sport and more about competition.  We had top 5 and top 10 finishes, but the real rewards were not in the placings.  There was a once in a great while group of people at collegiates this year, and Georgia Tech was anxious to take advantage of that.

There were more than a dozen schools competing, and each of the competitors shared a unique attitude towards doing everything they could to help the next person behind them in the plane.  There was almost instantly a comraderie between these, until now, strangers.  The spirit of the sport of skydiving couldn't have been better displayed in any other setting.  Each and every school was anxious to meet everyone else and equally excited about keeping in touch afterwards.

The meet ended with everyone trading information and with the development of a new website for everyone to keep in touch from here on out.  There were so many ideas that arised that can assist schools clubs in the sport, that we had to figure out a way to share these, so the forum on this new site has become the best central place to find information about skydiving in college.  This could not have happened at any other venue and the competitors present were exactly what an initiative like this takes to get off the ground.  Georgia Tech would like to thank every competitor at the competition for an uncomparable experience and for helping us to learn everything we could.  We look forward to attending again next year.  This new website is www.CollegeSkydiving.com

The competitors this year for Georgia Tech were Nikki Russell, Eric Scott, Diana Talley, Reid Ashe, and Ben Lee.  Reid joined up with three members of Virginia Tech to form a combined school 4-way team, then Eric and Diana comprised a 2-way team, as well as Nikki and Ben.
