There were several new people interested in the club so we covered joining the club, getting certified and how it’s the best opportunity to skydive that anyone will ever have. We will most likely begin each meeting by presenting this information to new people so they don’t have to sit through all the other stuff. KEEP RECRUITING GUYS!!!
This meeting was a recap of the last one for the most part, so review the last meeting minutes for info on dues and equipment. However, there were a few important new ideas floating around, so read through them and feel free to email your thoughts anytime.
Important Risk Management Ideas The first idea or topic is developing a new risk management policy due to specific concerns and ideas from our new Sport Club Coordinator Ken Lovic. He mentioned that it is a very good idea for each student to carry their insurance card on them and that others know where to find it just in case of an emergency. I’m not just talking about your USPA card, but your personal health insurance card. This could save precious time at a hospital when time may make the difference between a bad situation and a really bad situation. Along with this, each person should also carry information on who to contact in case of an emergency. This is also a vital piece of information that will hopefully never need to be used but that you would hate to be without if it was needed. Finally, we will find the closest hospital and emergency numbers to the drop zone and post those in the gear locker and in the team room so there is a quick reference if it is needed. We will be discussing this more in future meetings. Technique Article and Logo Contest The second idea involved us putting an article in the Technique. It’s been a little while since the club has had an official logo on shirts and merchandise, so we figured we could host a contest for all Tech students to submit their ideas for a new logo. The rules would be that it must pass through the artwork and trademark office of the school and be approved. We could have unbiased judges like the administrators that help us out on a regular basis. Finally, the winner gets a Tandem Skydive paid for by the club (or an equivalent amount of money on their account if they are already a certified skydiver). We would have a chance to post an info session time and place and the website address in the article and would hopefully get quite a bit of interest from the rest of the student body.
