GTSPC New Equipment E-mail
Nikki Russell Landing a Sentry 190
Nikki under the new Sentry 190
This past year has been a very big one for the GTSPC.  We have been fortunate as a club over the years to have acquired all the equipment needed to run one of the top collegiate skydiving programs in the country, but as any skydiver knows, sooner or later that equipment is going to be worn out.  This year we were able to replace gear as much as 14 years old and make all necessary safety updates.  Our club is by far the most well equipped skydiving club in the nation, and we have taken that to a new level this year.  This allows for more members, more teams, more skydiving, and more fun.
We have a new equipment web page showing what has been replaced and with what gear. Also, keep checking our photo gallery because I’m sure there will be plenty of pictures of members flying the new gear.

On the list of endeavors for funding we have stuck with our tried and true vendors that have helped us incredibly over the last two decades, and we have also received a great deal of help from the Georgia Tech Student Government and Joint Finance Committee.  The Student Government recognized the long standing good name of the club and was anxious to help.  Providing funding for new, safer and better fit gear was their answer, and it is more than appreciated.

The list of new gear for the club includes 6 brand new Javelin Odysseys which are top of the line skydiving containers, 11 new parachutes from Flight Concepts of all shapes and sizes, and replacing all AAD’s (Automatic Activation Devices) with Cypres2, upgrading from Cypres.  This gives us 9 full rigs that have a better and safer fit for all club members and much more peace of mind in the air when we are putting these to use.  Safety is our first priority and it starts with the gear that we jump.

Thank you to all those who helped us maintain and replace our gear to ensure that we are flying the safest rigs out there.  We hope to have many new members this year and look forward to the National Collegiate Competition in December.
