Several of our alumni have been more than helpful in this past semester and we owe them a big thank you for helping us beginners out. We are a pretty low jump number group and all of the coaching and advice along the way has been outstanding. This page is a list of just some of the things that have made a big difference for us.
Kevin Patrick
The club and all of the new members looking for coaching on A-License requirements owe Kevin a big thank you. But that’s not all, Kevin is single handedly responsible for just about all the video and still frames of the recent years members. Kevin has been down at SDA with all of us doing fun jumps, re-currency jumps and coach jumps as well as showing up to meetings to do some more coaching. Aside from all the skydiving help, Kevin is also responsible for several club outings so we could all hang out and get to know the sides of each other we wish we never knew. Thanks KP! Eric Taylor Eric stopped by a meeting midway through the Fall 2005 semester to see how the club was doing and where it was headed. He also shared some inspiring stories about how all those top jumpers (including himself) from Tech started small just like the position we’re in right now. He stuck around and has been there for advice on everything from team training to equipment replacement. To have someone of that experience level helping out and steering us in the right direction is more than beneficial. So much of the club is what happens in the years to come and not just what’s going on right now. Eric has been encouraging people to jump together, form teams and has helped new jumpers with tips for flying better. Thanks Skybuzz! Bill Thomasson With Danny Page off to keep our country safe enough to still skydive in, Bill has helped out with some of the rigging and advice on equipment maintenance. Bill assembled and packed our newest addition to the fleet on short notice right before the holidays, a Javelin Odyssey with a Sentry 190 main. With six 2-way teams at the collegiate competition and getting manifested on the same load, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without that rig. His advice is also helping future planning for the club as far as AFF programs, rig set ups, and coaching future riggers. He has offered and been taken up on the offer to start training club members for a rigger’s license. Thanks Wild Bill! Brian Timberlake Brian was one of the most recent rated instructors that the club had and has been back to help coach some creeper practices as well as offer advice on how the club has worked in the past. Without people like Brian coming back and helping out, it’s hard to see farther than one or two years back as far as policies and organization are concerned. Brian has also offered advice on forming teams and encouraging lower jump number members to learn more about competition. Thanks Brian! Liz Stoner Liz is known for taking care of all the paperwork and sorting out the constitution, the charter and the infamous sport club council debate. Liz has stayed involved and been there to bounce ideas off of when it comes to more updates. Having a reference to turn to in order to figure out what paperwork goes where has saved the current exec a ton of time. There is more than most people know that goes towards keeping the school happy with paperwork and Liz has passed on some of her tricks. Thanks Stoner! Kyle Collins If you know GT skydiving then you probably know Kyle as one of the most decorated skydivers Tech has. Kyle stopped by one of the more political meetings that we had to see how things were going. He has also offered to hold a seminar on formation flying for the club and the teams that may form by then. Kyle is one of those assets that we don’t want to lose and we can learn more about formation flying from him than even those of us on 7 year plans have time for. Thanks Kyle! Rick Hargett Rick also attended one of the more political meetings to see how things were coming along and mentioned some of the PR stuff that we can work on. With club numbers being pretty high and alumni like Rick coming back to help out, we can keep this club growing in the right direction. He pointed out along with Eric some of the things that get attention from future members. Thanks Rick! Kirk Bauer Kirk is out of town now but has kept us posted through emails such as the CReW World Record info. It’s a great feeling to know that the club meant that much to previous members that they want to stay in touch and up to date with current events. Hopefully the new site will help us out with hearing more alumni stories and achievements because that is all inspirational to us. Thanks Kirk! |
