Website Features E-mail
This year we decided to purchase some server space so that we could add a few more features and more space for pictures and videos on our website.  We are using Mambo which is a content management system that can provide every feature we could ever want.  Some of the new features are discussed below and some are in the making.  Please keep checking back for updates and if you are interested in helping out with the site please email Ben Lee at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Newsletter FormatIn addition to all of the other user friendly features that we have added over this past year, we are now adding a Newsletter Email List that you can subscribe to or unsubscribe to whenever you want.  That's right, you don't have to email anyone to try to get your name put on our list, and you don't have to worry about changing your email address and not getting the GT Skydive Updates.  Now it takes a matter of seconds to sign yourself up and then you get a confirmation email right away.  This email also allows for HTML, so the Newsletter may contain pictures of recent events and you'll be able to find what you are looking for right away.  Check it out ASAP!

GT Skydive Merchandise

GT Skydive StoreThere has been a big demand from members for Sport Parachute Club shirts and stickers so we finally found a place that could offer what we needed.  We have a store at Cafepress.com and you can purchase our items anytime.  If you have design ideas, please don't hesitate to send those as well.  You can email any design requests to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  So you're a skydiver from Tech, now you can dress the part.  Purchase a shirt and show your support the next time you head down to the drop zone.
Photo GalleryOne of the most popular new features is the Photo Gallery found in the left hand menu.  We have significantly larger server space for pictures so we set up a gallery that everyone can use and update.  When you visit the gallery, go to the ‘Register’ link at the top right of the page and register with your name.  Please use your name for the full name section so we know whose pictures we’re looking at and so we know to register your account.  After we register your account, the next time you log in, the program will start an Album in your name that you can log in to and upload pictures to.  All you have to do is choose the pictures to upload and the program creates all the thumbnails and formats the album for you.  This is open to Members and Alumni and for events such as Boogies or Competitions, we will email out a login and password for that particular album.  Please take advantage of this and if we end up needing more server space, we will purchase more.
GT Skydive ForumAnother feature that is up and running is the new Forum found by clicking on the ‘Forum’ link in the left hand menu.  This can turn into a great reference for questions, answers, articles, and even buying and selling gear.  If it is your first time checking out the forum, please register so that you can post.  When you register, an automated email is sent to the email address that you enter with the info to activate your account.  This may take some time (like a couple hours), but if it doesn’t come through after a half day, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to let us know there is a problem.  If you would like a new category to be added, then you can email us with that request too.
RSS Syndicate MenuIf you are computer savvy, then you can take advantage of the RSS feeds found in the left menu of the home page under the ‘Syndicate’ tab.  We will do our best to keep the home page updated with meeting, event, and accomplishment info and with RSS you will never miss it.  Check out the help page we have to get you started in the main menu: 'RSS Feed Help Page'.
You can now search our site for key words or phrases so you can jump right to the articles that you are interested in.  For instance, if you want more information about Tandem Skydives, you can search for the word Tandem and choose from the articles that come up.

Print, PDF, Email Articles

At the top right of most articles posted you will find a Print, PDF, and Email icon that will bring the article up in a printer friendly or PDF format.  This will come in handy if you find the information useful and want to save it for later viewing.

Contact Us Mail Form and V-Card Feature

Mail Form FeatureWe want you to be able to contact us as easily as possible so we developed an email form for all of our officers.  Simply go to the 'Contact Us' link in the main left hand menu and you will see a list of the officers.  To email them using your default email utility, click on the officer's email address you want to contact.  If you want to use the easy form, click on the officer's name you want to get in touch with and a page with the email form and other contact information will pop up.  On the form enter your name, your email address, the message subject, and the message, in each of the text boxes then click 'send'.  This form sends an email to the officer and a copy to you without you ever having to login to an email account.  It's quick and simple.  If you use Microsoft Outlook or another v-card compatible utility such as a Blackberry or iPod to keep track of your contacts, there is a 'Download information as a v-card' link on each officer's page that downloads all the contact information present in v-card format.

Content

We still have Member and Alumni Profiles posted and many of them need updates.  If you want to update your profile or if you don’t see yours up and you would like to submit one to be posted, please email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  You can put any information on it that you want and you can also send a picture to be posted with it.  Feel free to check the profiles that are already posted for examples, but be creative if you want.  Our goal is encourage a central site for everyone, members and alumni, to stay in better contact and up to date with each other and with club happenings.

Links

Our links page is full of helpful websites that can provide extra information about some of the content in the site.  You will find links to the vendors that provide us with most of our equipment, the USPA website, our home drop zone, and other helpful links like the weather channel.

Equipment Status

Equipment InfoHaving 9 rigs to keep track of and different size parachutes in most of them means that we need to keep track of what equipment is in each rig.  We also need to keep track of reserve repacks and when they might be due.  We have developed some very helpful Microsoft Excel files that keep track of reserve repacks, Cypres maintenance, and due dates for each.  Being saved as a webpage makes them viewable on our site.  You can view these sheets under the 'Members' link in the left menu by clicking on the sub menu items 'GT Rig Info' and 'GT Reserve Repack Dates'.

Weather Channel Link

Weather for Thomaston, GAWe now have a link for the Weather Channel that goes directly to the weather in Thomaston, GA.  You don't have to worry about knowing different zip codes, just click on the link and see the weather for our home drop zone, Skydive Atlanta.
